How the giraffe got its long neck
Long, long time ago, giraffes did not have long necks. They looked more like a deer with big patch brown spots on their bright yellow skin and they are lovely and adorable creatures.
There was once a giraffe named Zoe. She lived with her family in a forest together for many years.
One day, when she was with her mother looking for food in the one of the new area for them, they did not know that it was the hunting season and this was the hot spot hunters to hunt for animals.
Suddenly, a loud shot was heard. Her mother screamed. She turned back and was astonished to see her mother being shot dead. She remembered what her mother always tell her;’ Run as far as you can when you hear a gun shot ’ ,so she ran as far as she could and hid behind the bushes. She sadly looked at her mother’s body dragged away by the hunters.
She blamed herself for not being alert to look out for any hunters which resulted her mother’s death. She cried for days and nights.
Her friend, Molly the rat told her that she knew of a dwarf who was known to have magical powers that lived in a cave not far away. She promised to bring Zoe there.
The dwarf asked Zoe, “How can I help you?” Zoe answered” Please help me to keep watch of my family.”
Just as she had finished her request, the dwarf pulled and stretched her neck with all his might. Then, the dwarf said to Zoe,’ Now, you will be able to watch out for hunters and keep watch of your family.’ And that was how the giraffe got its long neck.
